Let Your Sequins Show

I’ve been slacking on my blog lately but for a good reason. I’ve decided to move back to MA for at least 6 months to take care of my Mom and to start studying Holistic Nutrition. It’s a major decision and quite wild but I tend to be spontaneous and enjoy change so I’m pretty excited about it. I will most likely be starting a new blog that incorporates both fashion and health/nutrition and also fun projects that I’ll be doing with my Mom (who is super creative). I will post details about the new blog once I get it going and I hope you guys will follow it!

Soooo, about my outfit. Well, this is what happens when you really need to do laundry…you pull out the stuff you typically never wear. I layered a vintage Narciso Rodriguez sequin tank over a black lace slip. It looked too sexy for where I was going so I added this casual, striped tank over it and finished with a leather jacket (of course). I was pretty excited to bust out my Alexander Wang heels (that never see the light of day). I recently got my hair highlighted too! I totally splurged and went to Ken Paves Salon in Beverly Hills. I highly recommend going to Joey for hair color etc. He is an amazing person and super talented…definitely worth the splurge.

Catch Me Slippin

free people dressMy friends and I spent this past weekend at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs and had a great time! I’m obsessed with the Ace Hotel by the way. It has a free-spirited flair with great decor, super friendly staff and a yummy restaurant. If you ever go to Palm Springs and are looking for a more laid-back, hipster vibe then I definitely recommend staying here.

In the heat of the summer, I tend to live in slip dresses. They’re easy to wear, great at keeping you cool and look cute & feminine. For my trip I packed 2 bathing suits, 3 slip dresses and 2 pairs of sandals…that’s it. One of my favorites is this pale yellow, voile and lace slip dress from Free People. I wore it with a white strapless bodysuit from American Apparel for the day and I also used it as a bathing suit cover-up at the pool. It will make a good layering piece too at some point…(I have a vision of it looking great with my brown over-the-knee boots and a snuggly cardigan).

Fringe Benefits

Neon fringe skirt & cream knit sweater

IMG_0962This neon pink, fringe skirt is one of those things that you’re drawn to and kinda like but never buy because you have absolutely no clue how you would wear it. Well, let me help you:

1. Wear it like me – Pair it with a cream colored loose knit top and some tan platform ankle boots. Make it fun by adding a pair of blue mirror lenses. Complete the look with unwashed hair thrown up into a messy bun.
2. Wear it like a rockstar – Throw on your favorite band tee, a few silver necklaces and a leather jacket. Wear it with some badass ankle boots and finish it off with a smokey cat eye and nude lip.
3. Wear it like an Orange County girl – Choose a sexy white top that’s low cut…maybe even backless. Wear it with a gold belt and your favorite nude Louboutins. Top off the look with some gold jewelry, a Louis Vuitton bag, hair extensions and fake eyelashes.

There you have it…no excuses…buy that statement skirt.

White Night

white dresswhite dresswhite dresswhite dress with cutoutswhite dress with cutoutsclutch and gold jewelryA fitted white dress is one of those things that can be really scary for many of us. The type of fabric and whether or not the dress has a lining are key factors here. This one is made out of thicker ribbed fabric at the top and a lacey bottom that has a lining so it worked for me. I usually like to wear loose tops or flowy clothing but I try to embrace my curves and show em off every once in a while…usually on a “skinny day”…you know what I’m talking about.
I like this dress because it’s different and I like the addition of the cutout lace sleeves. It’s great for a Summertime date night or a fancy girls night out. I don’t like looking too prim and proper so I paired it with black heels and a black spiked clutch and piled on the gold jewelry for that rock and roll touch.

Rompin Around

I mean, I also think of happiness, BBQ’s and the beach so don’t get me wrong. That’s why I love this little tie-dye romper. It’s easy to throw on and it fits loose on your body so that you can catch a breeze on those super hot days! I was so excited to wear this romper with my new, knee-high gladiator sandals by Stuart Weitzman…I’m obsessed with them and they will be put to good use this Summer!

Bringing Sexy Back

Dress with back cutoutsDress with back cutoutsDress with back cutoutsGold Jewelryleopard spiked bag and gold jewelryThis dress is the perfect amount of sexy with a high-neck, ankle length and the lower back cut-outs. It’s a great piece for layering too. You can wear it with a cardigan or a plaid shirt tied around your waist and you can dress it up with some jewelry and sexy shoes. The fabric is very thin so I had to go seek out the perfect underwear. (I think wearing the right kind of underwear with something like this is REALLY important. If your thong pinches your sides or has lace or a bow on it, then it will show and it will look horrible and people will not even notice the dress). Luckily, I found a great line of seamless undergarments at Nordstrom called Commando. They really work great! Every girl needs a pair to go with all of those thin fabric dresses and skirts. I accessorized by layering a few thin gold necklaces and a stack of cute bracelets. I chose a spiked leopard clutch for a little pop.

Rock The Bells

denim bell bottomsdenim bell bottomsCrochet Beanieclear studded clutchI’ve been obsessing over bell-bottoms lately!  When I was in Free People the other day I was so excited that they had a few different styles for me to try on. The first pair I tried on had an elastic waist and more of an exaggerated flare bottom. The second pair were the ones in the photo…the SUPER bell. I was slightly hesitant to get them because of how obnoxious the bell was…but then I realized that I have an obnoxious side…and that side won the battle.

I kept the look basic and bohemian and wore some high heeled wedges and gold jewelry. I threw off the look with a modern, clear clutch with gold studs.
